Touristic objectives
In the West and North-West of Rucar-Bran Corridor you can see Piatra Craiului Peak, this being one of the most representative touristic objectives. Piatra Craiului Mountain dominates with its jagged peak Tara Barsei Depression on the Northeast, Rucar-Bran Corridor on the South and East and Tamasului Corridor (Rucar-Zarnesti) on the North and West.
Due to its position, direction and aspect, Piatra Craiului represents a clearly outlined geographical unity. Piatra Craiului is delimited on the North by Barsei Valley, on the West by Dambovita, on the East by Vladusca and Raul Mare on one side and on the other by Valea Seaca a Pietrelor -Brusturet- Dambovicioara, as in the South, gradually decreases to Dambovita and Dambovicioara Valleys.
Piatra Craiului Mountain extends between 45o22'03" si 45o35'11" North latitude and 25o07'38" si 25o23'18" East longitude and can be divided into three separate subdivisions, dissociated by clear natural limits ( Saua Funduri, Curmatura Pietrei Craiului): Piatra Craiului Mare, Piatra Craiului Mica and Pietricica.
By its length, altitude and landscape diversity, Piatra Craiului Mare is the most known and visited, extending on about 22 kilometers between Curmatura Pietrei Craiului and Saua Funduri, Piatra Craiului Mare is a real challenge for the tourists. Here you can also find the highest peak from the mountain: La Om or Piscul Baciului- 2237 meters. Piatra Craiului Mare is also divided into two regions: the North Peak, between Curmatura Pietrei Craiului and Saua Grind, and the South Peak, between Saua Grind and Saua Funduri.
The sharp areas from one side are very popular among climbers and not only. Between Turnu Peak and Umerii Pietrei Craiului you can see North- West area which is rivered by various torrential valleys, also called tablelands , surrounded by footways which form superposed wild gardens and in the same time routings very popular among experienced tourists.
The West sharp area, although smaller, is as wild as the other, but farther from villages and lodges, being located between Umerii Pietrei Craiului and Urzicii Valley. The valleys shape only from the base of the wall and completely disappear in the area of large detritus accretion.
East area is not so wild, having milder slopes, some of them covered with grass, from place to place with various shape of rocks.
